OU Mission

Never forget: The mission of the University of Oklahoma is to provide the best possible educational experience for our students through excellence in teaching, research and creative activity, and service to the state and society.

I think that I live the OU mission statement to an extent. I am not teaching or conducting research, but I participate in what is being taught and am involved in teaching process. I am involed with creative activity and learning. I volunteer with my soriety and with this class. Also most of my classes require some creativity. My writing class occasionally requires me to think of my own prompt based on the readings. Also this class, Leading the Way, requires a lot of creativity. From writing the blogs to when we first did our life maps. OU gives the opportunities for students to live the mission statement, it is up to the student to take advantage of what is given to them. It is of course a bit daunting when first looking at all the ways the university tries to live the mission statement in the community and at first I was not sure what was going on. Now I like to think that I live the OU mission statement because I try to seek each opportunity and use every resource the university extends to me.

OU lives the mission statement. They genuinely give each student the chance to life the statement. OU can only provide students with the statement. The university provides quality professors, various campus activities and service groups. OU lives the mission statement by giving each student an equal opportunity to take advantage of ever resource the university processes.

The OU lives the mission statement by provide all the necessary resources, yet sometimes students do not even know they are there. For me I came to OU with very little knowledge about the university, and the only reason I came with some information was because I attended Camp Crimson. So as you can imagine when I first got on campus and began hearing about CAC, Dance Marathon, Homecoming Exec, U-Sing, and other involvement opportunities I was completely lost. I wish I would have come in to OU knowing some of the knowledge the university has provided me with from this class. Such as it is acceptable to apply with a blank resume or even simply that freshman can apply. I think that if OU did a better job of letting students know a bit more about all the university offers before school begins then perhaps students like me would not be so apprehensive at the beginning to try and live out the statement.
